The challenge

Dust and odour in a demanding waste sorting process

Municipal solid waste and food waste sorting can create challenging working conditions.

During handling and separation, dust and airborne particles can be released into the production environment, while organic waste can also create unwanted odours.

For an effective solution, it is therefore not enough to look at one component in isolation. The extraction system needs to work together across collection points, ducting, airflow, filtration and odour treatment.

The solution

One integrated extraction system

The solution at Meldgaard combines several technologies into one connected system.

Dust is extracted from the production process and transported through the duct system before being treated by the filtration equipment.

The individual components are designed to work as part of the complete system rather than as isolated pieces of equipment.

Understand the process first, then design the system around it.

How the system works

One connected flow from process to clean air

  1. 01
    Process

Waste sorting generates dust and odour.

  2. 02
    Extraction

Polluted air is captured at the relevant process points.

  3. 03
    Ducting

The extracted air is transported through the duct system.

  4. 04
    Filtration

Dust is separated from the airflow using the SuperJet filter.

  5. 05
    Odour treatment

The carbon filtration stage supports odour control.

  6. 06
    Airflow

The fan maintains the required airflow through the complete system.

System thinking

Designed around the complete process

A successful dust extraction solution depends on more than selecting a filter or fan.

Airflow, duct routing, extraction points, process characteristics, dust handling and filtration all need to work together.

The Meldgaard installation is a clear example of how several technologies can be combined around one industrial process.

One process.
One connected system.

Why a complete solution matters

More than individual components

The Meldgaard case demonstrates why industrial dust extraction should be considered as a complete system.

The individual components each perform a specific task, but their real value comes from how they work together.

01

Connected design

Extraction, ducting, filtration and airflow are considered as one system.

02

One point of contact

A coordinated approach makes it easier to manage technical interfaces.

03

System compatibility

Components are selected and dimensioned to work together.

04

Long-term support

The system can be supported, maintained and optimised over time.
